These links are a bit dated, but I thought they were interesting reads.
- The Miami New Times has refused to divulge their sources to MLB, mostly because (as far as I can tell) they’re still pissed at Bud Selig for allowing his buddy Jeffrey Loria to screw Miami. This “Press Release” reads more like a disgruntled blogger than it does an official communique.
- The above article refers to this entertaining March 2013 article in The Atlantic on Loria and his scam artist tactics, and it references this whole slew of Deadspin articles on the Marlins and their financial irregularities.
In either case, any worries that people may have had about Gio Gonzalez or anyone else getting suspended for their roles in the Biogenesis case seem unfounded. How can MLB suspend anyone if they don’t have any evidence in their hands?

But I agree that it seems unlikely that there will be more, absent some more evidence hitting the airwaves.

There’s a small difference bewteen Carillo and the likes of Gio, Braun, Cruz and other MLBers; Carillo is currently NOT on anyone’s 40-man roster and therefore is not a part of the MLBPA aka the Union.
What a chickensh*t move by Selig; suspend some poor minor leaguer without a positive test or anything that would possibly pass muster in a court of law because you can’t touch the major leaguers.

yeah, I agree, seems like pure PR by Selig. I can only assume that they had a little bit more than just the news report though. That would be incredible, even for Uncle Bud.
As an aside, I am among the ‘least-bothered by PEDs’ fans out there, and I like Ryan Braun, or at least the public persona of him, but even I have to admit that the circumstantial stuff around him is pretty amazing. This guy was his college roommate, apparently. And on top of all of this, the guy just keeps hitting. It is either a rather amazing set of coincidences, or he is Lance Armstrong.

Okay, the Loria article lowers my blood pressure just a tad at the Nats for their decision to make season ticket holders go “paperless” this year and issue plastic admittance cards instead of tickets to individual games. So far, just signing up for the process has been a complete nightmare. Even if it wasn’t, I always liked having those ticket stubs as souvenirs.
Just so they can save a few bucks on printing–grrrrrr!

I heard about going to the cards but dropped out of all my Season Ticket groups this year to save some cash. I’d imagine that it could be, well, difficult to administer.
When we went over to England to watch games, we literally had to borrow the actual ticket holder’s cards to get into the games that we had scalped. And then we had to give them back. And of course one of my party lost the damn card, which led to a very tense encounter with the owner upon our return. I wonder if that’s going to be how it is going forward.
