{"id":11312,"date":"2015-10-08T11:29:48","date_gmt":"2015-10-08T15:29:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalsarmrace.com\/?p=11312"},"modified":"2015-10-08T11:29:48","modified_gmt":"2015-10-08T15:29:48","slug":"alds-pitching-matchups-and-prediction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalsarmrace.com\/?p=11312","title":{"rendered":"ALDS Pitching Matchups and Prediction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two games down, and my prognostication skills are looking good (2 for 2 in WC games).<\/p>\n<p>Lets look at the ALDS series with pitching matchups<\/p>\n<p><strong>Toronto-Texas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Game 1: Price vs Gallardo<\/li>\n<li>Game 2: Stroman vs Hamels<\/li>\n<li>Game 3: Estrada vs Perez\/Lewis (I&#8217;d guess Lewis)<\/li>\n<li>Game 4: likely Dickey v Holland<\/li>\n<li>Game 5: likely Price vs Gallardo rematch<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Buehrle doesn&#8217;t make the post-season roster and sails into the sunset having gotten destroyed in his final outing (and torpedoing my fantasy championship in the process, handing a free win to Tampa&#8217;s starter on the evening).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Prediction: I like Toronto<\/strong>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">in this series, winning in 3 or 4 games.\u00a0 Toronto may struggle with Gallardo in game 1 but will have Price to shutdown Texas.\u00a0 Toronto is RHP heavy and shouldn&#8217;t struggle too much against Hamels in the homer-dome.\u00a0 Estrada and Dickey don&#8217;t sound like they&#8217;re scary but they&#8217;ve both been dominant in the 2nd half (Dickey in particular: 8-1 with a 2.80 ERA since the all-star break).\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kansas City-Houston:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Game 1: Ventura v McHugh<\/li>\n<li>Game 2: Cueto vs Kazmir<\/li>\n<li>Game 3: Volquez vs Keuchel<\/li>\n<li>Game 4: likely Young vs McCullers<\/li>\n<li>Game 5: likely Ventura v McHugh rematch<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>KC catches a huge break only having to face likely Cy Young winner Keuchel once in this series.\u00a0 The rest of Houston&#8217;s rotation isn&#8217;t as impressive on a head to head basis.\u00a0 I think we might see the home team hold serve in all five games here the way the pitching match-ups look.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t see Keuchel losing, nor do I see McCullers losing his home start (even given his youth; he&#8217;s been excellent at home).\u00a0 Cueto had crummy numbers but finished relatively strong and Ventura can be a beast.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong> Prediction: I like Kansas City in five.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two games down, and my prognostication skills are looking good (2 for 2 in WC games).
