this is a recap of the super regionals with predictions and key names to watch in the CWS).<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a recap of our CWS coverage so far for 2018:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalsarmrace.com\/?p=14873\">Field of 64 announcement<\/a>\u00a0with Regional predictions and highlights of top-end draft prospects.<\/li>\n<li>2018 Draft Preview\u00a0with coverage of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalsarmrace.com\/?p=11117\">Local College-age eligible players of note<\/a><\/li>\n<li>2018 CWS tournament:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalsarmrace.com\/?p=14985\">Regional Results, Super-Regional Pairings<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>CWS\u00a0Super Regionals were played this past weekend.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Super Regional Recaps<\/strong><\/span>: \u00a0I&#8217;ve got these ordered by they way they&#8217;ll be playing into the CWS field (i.e. by bracket, with former Natioanl seeds 1,8,5,4 in the top and 6,3,7,2 in the bottom). \u00a0And this is the order they&#8217;re listed on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/d1baseball.com\/super-regional-tournament-central\/\">d1baseball&#8217;s Tourney Central<\/a>, the quickest way to find results.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">#1 Florida vs Auburn:\u00a0<strong>Brady Singer<\/strong> overcame a leg injury in the first to throw a quality start while his offense spoiled<strong> Casey Mize<\/strong>&#8216;s likely final collegiate start to get Game 1.\u00a0 In game 2, Auburn could do nothing with <strong>Jackson Kowar<\/strong>, but got two runs late including a walk-off in the 9th to force a decided against Florida&#8217;s closer.\u00a0 \u00a0The two teams played a classic 3rd game, with <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Florida<\/strong> <\/span>eventually advancing on a walk-off homer in the 11th to advance to Omaha for the fourth year in a row.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Duke vs #9 Texas Tech:\u00a0 Texas Tech got the first game 6-4.\u00a0 \u00a0Duke pounded them 11-2 to force the decider.\u00a0 There, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Texas Tech<\/strong><\/span> won 6-2 to advance.<\/li>\n<li>#5 Arkansas vs South Carolina: Arkansas showed why they&#8217;re a tough out, with their offense lighting up in a game one win 9-3.\u00a0 Nats 10th rounder\u00a0<strong>Carson Shaddy<\/strong> was a huge factor here, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamecocksonline.com\/sports\/m-basebl\/stats\/2017-2018\/sc-61.html\">hitting a bases-clearing double<\/a> in the 7th to break open the game.\u00a0 In game 2, South Carolina got a solid start from\u00a0Reservoir HS grad\u00a0<strong>Cody Morris<\/strong> to force the deciding 3rd game (Note: Shaddy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-baseball\/game?gameId=381611193\">again had a solid game<\/a> for Arkansas, and our 15th rounder\u00a0<strong>Evan Lee<\/strong> got into the game as a match-up lefty for one batter).\u00a0 In the decider, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Arkansas<\/strong> <\/span>jumped on South Carolina early and cruised 14-4 to earn a trip to Omaha.\u00a0 Shaddy had another huge game with 3 RBIs.<\/li>\n<li>Tennessee Tech vs #13 Texas: Tennessee Tech upset Texas 5-4 in the opener.\u00a0 Texas won game two 4-2 to force a deciding third game.\u00a0 There, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Texas<\/strong> <\/span>took the series against pesky Tennessee Tech to advance.<\/li>\n<li>#3 Oregon State vs #14 Minnesota: OSU continued their dominant post-season by beating Minnesota 8-1 in the first game behind nearly a CG from OSU ace and lightening rod\u00a0<strong>Luke Heimlich.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>They had to work a bit harder in game 2, but <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Oregon State<\/strong><\/span> still advanced to their 2nd straight CWS 6-3.<\/li>\n<li>#6 UNC vs #11 Stetson: UNC got to Stetson 1st rounder\u00a0<strong>Logan Gilbert<\/strong>, putting 4 runs on him in 5 innings and holding on for the game 1 victory.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>UNC<\/strong> <\/span>made quick work of Stetson in Game 2 to advance to the CWS.<\/li>\n<li>Mississippi State vs Vanderbilt: In a game dominated by poor pitching and errors, Mississippi State&#8217;s junior undrafted outfielder\u00a0<strong>Elijah Macnamee<\/strong> hit a walk-off 2-run homer to take game one.\u00a0 Vanderbilt scored 3 runs late, including a walk-off homer in the 9th, to take game 2; our two Vandy picks\u00a0<strong>Reid Schaller<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Chandler Day<\/strong> got the hold and the win by <a href=\"http:\/\/hailstate.com\/boxscore.aspx?path=baseball&amp;id=8307\">pitching the 8th and 9th in this game<\/a>.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Mississippi State<\/strong><\/span> took game 3, getting a couple runs off of Day&#8217;s long-relief effort but exploding for four runs in the 11th to advance.<\/li>\n<li>Cal State Fullerton vs Washington: UWash got to CSF starter\u00a0<strong>Colton Eastman<\/strong> in the 7th, and put enough runs on the board to make the lead stick in game 1.\u00a0 Fullerton got revenge in game two 5-2 and forced the decider.\u00a0 There though,\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Washington<\/span><\/strong> won in extra innings to advance to their first ever CWS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>My CWS Predictions<\/strong><\/span>: Florida, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Texas on one side, Oregon State, Stetson, Vanderbilt, Cal-State Fullerton on the other.<\/p>\n<p>Actuals: Florida, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Texas on the top, Oregon State, UNC, Mississippi State, Washington on the bottom.<\/p>\n<p>I got the whole upper bracket right, whiffed on most of the lower bracket.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>CWS Field and Profiles<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Top Bracket:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>#1 Florida: 47-19 overall, 20-10 in the SEC.\u00a0 1st place SEC-East regular season.<\/li>\n<li>#9 Texas Tech: 44-18 overall, 15-9 in Big-12.\u00a0 3rd place Big-12 regular season.<\/li>\n<li>#5 Arkansas; 43-19 overall, 18-12 in the SEC.\u00a0 2nd place SEC-West regular season.<\/li>\n<li>#13 Texas: 42-21 overall, 17-7 in Big-12.\u00a0 1st place Big-12 regular season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bottom Bracket<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>#3 Oregon State: 49-10-1, 20-9-1 in the Pac-12.\u00a0 \u00a02nd place, Pac-12 regular season.<\/li>\n<li>#6 UNC: 43-18 overall, 22-8 in the ACC.\u00a0 1st Place ACC-Coastal division regular season.<\/li>\n<li>Mississippi State; 37-27 overall, 15-15 in the SEC.\u00a0 5th Place, SEC-West division regular season.<\/li>\n<li>Washington: 35-24 overall, 20-10 in the Pac-12<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CWS field review by the numbers<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SEC: 3 teams<\/li>\n<li>Pac12: 2 team<\/li>\n<li>ACC: 1 teams<\/li>\n<li>Big12: 2 teams<\/li>\n<li>National top 8 Seeds: 3<\/li>\n<li>Regional Hosts (i.e. top 16 seeds): 6<\/li>\n<li>First time programs: 1 (Washington)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">CWS Field thoughts<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An interesting field.\u00a0 \u00a0The entire bottom half of the tourney was decided before any of the upper half, as six of the eight super-regionals went the full 3 games.\u00a0 At first glance, its easy to predict the two best teams here (Florida and Oregon State).\u00a0 But its hard to not see what Mississippi State has done lately.\u00a0 They finished 15-15 in SEC play &#8230; but that included them sweeping both Arkansas and Florida late just to get their league record up to .500.\u00a0 They&#8217;re incredibly hot, just flipped the script on Vanderbilt, and is not a team i&#8217;d want to mess with right now.\u00a0 The upper bracket has more seeds, but the lower bracket might be a tougher road for the favorite Oregon State.<\/p>\n<p>Florida beat Arkansas 2 of 3 in their season series, but it was in Florida.\u00a0 On a neutral field its hard to say who might win.\u00a0 In the bottom , Oregon State will open with conference rival Washington, who they took 2 of 3 against (again at home).\u00a0 \u00a0Its hard to see a Texas-Texas Tech rematch but if they do meet, Texas took 2\/3 on Texas Tech&#8217;s field and should be slightly favored on a neutral field.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Quick predictions<\/strong><\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>Final: Oregon State over Florida.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Player Star power in this CWS<\/strong><\/span>: By team, here&#8217;s the\u00a0top-end draft talents<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Florida features\u00a0top picks\u00a0<strong>Brady Singer, Jackson Kowar, Jonathan India<\/strong><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Texas Tech&#8217;s top pick was a Supplemental 2nd rounder\u00a0<strong>Grant Little.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Arkansas had three upper round picks: 3rd rounder\u00a0<strong>Blaine Knight<\/strong>, 4th rounder\u00a0<strong>Eric Cole<\/strong> and 5th round C\u00a0<strong>Grant Koch<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Texas&#8217; highest draft pick is the son of\u00a0<strong>Roger Clemens<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kody Clemens<\/strong>, drafted in the 3rd round.\u00a0 Also features role player\u00a0<strong>Andy McGuire<\/strong>, from Madison HS in Vienna, drafted in the 28th round.<\/li>\n<li>Oregon State features\u00a0<strong>Nick Madrigal<\/strong>\u00a0(#4 overall), plus 1st-day picks\u00a0<strong>Trevor Larnach<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Cayden Grenier,\u00a0<\/strong>as well as the controversial 1st round talent\u00a0<strong>Luke Heimlich<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>UNC had just one top 10 round pick, RHP 6th rounder\u00a0<strong>Rodney Hutchinson<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Mississippi State&#8217;s ace\u00a0<strong>Konner Plikington<\/strong> slipped to the 3rd round.<\/li>\n<li>Washington<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>had and 8th rounder\u00a0<strong>A.J.
