Washington Post beat reporter\u00a0Adam Kilgore<\/strong> called\u00a0Ross Detwiler<\/strong> for a reaction to the\u00a0Doug Fister<\/strong> acquistion and\u00a0Mike Rizzo<\/strong>‘s follow-up comments on the pending 5th starter competition next spring. \u00a0Here’s the story:<\/p>\n

I call out one quote from Detwiler in particular:<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know there was going to be an open competition for the last spot,\u201d Detwiler said. \u201cOh, well. I\u2019ve gone into every year since I got here like that. \u00a0So why change that now?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

I’m sorry; what part of\u00a0Detwiler’s career, or his performance last year in particular, is such that he should be surprised that he’s going to be competing for a rotation spot?? \u00a0I’ll just note a few key points:<\/p>\n
