The whole blog was down last week, but came up after updating the version. Now everything is updated, and the comments don’t work. I’ve got my hosting provider looking at it now.

The root cause seemed to be the WordPress code suddenly using http: instead of https: for its operations, which … it seemed to do on its own somehow? I dunno.
But, i’m still struggling to get into the Admin pages.

one of the responsibilities I have in my day job is to keep a wordpress site alive, and it takes considerably more work than I think it should. Good luck. DM if you want a hand.

@KevinR: agreed. Luckily my hosting provider does a solid job. There’s been a couple things they’ve punted on in the past, and at present I’m badly behind in the PHP version with no real idea how to upgrade it… but as long as this thing keeps running, we’re good. Thank you for the offer.

Upgrading from 7.x to 8.x breaks some things, and took me a while to clean up. Godpseed.

Thanks for the heads up Kevin … i have two WordPress based blogs but only this one (the one that’s far older) is problematic. I’ll keep you in mind if something really goes south that my hosting provider can’t fix.
