Here’s a quick game by game recap.

  • Game 1: LSU’s ace Kade Anderson finished off his college career with a 1-0 3-hit 130 pitch shutout that was both amazing and concerning for his arm health.
  • Game 2: LSU finally got to CCU’s ace Jacob Morrison, putting up 4 runs in the 4th that stuck and they held on for a 5-3 win.

Your 2025 College World Series Champion: LSU, winning their 2nd since we started hyper covering the CWS and their 8th title since 2001.

Final list of all CWS coverage this year:

Here’s some links to past years of CWS coverage here. I’ve been doing this for more than 10 years now! Each link below is the blog post covering that CWS final.

That’s it for the 2025 CWS tournament. I think its safe to say that it was an odd year for college baseball, seeing a mid-major cruise relatively untested into the final and having the all-powerful SEC win the event but (frankly) disappoint with its overall post-season performance.

We now get to focus entirely on 1-1 watch for a while.

  1. There seems to be some radical draft board differences of opinion on the Game 2 starters, Eyanson and Morrison. McDaniel has Eyanson going #37, while he’s #66 on the MLB.com board, #54 with Law. That’s dancing around the Nats’ second pick (#49). MLB.com has Morrison way down at #181 but with this conclusion: “He’ll turn 22 two months after the Draft but has less experience and more room for growth than most pitchers his age. If a team can help him improve his pitches even a half-grade, he could become a mid-rotation starter.” That’s certainly an intriguing potential upside for someone who likely could be had in the 5th round. And Rizzo does like ’em BIG! And on their second elbows (TJ for Morrison in 2024).

  2. Law on Eyanson:

Eyanson’s been a bit overshadowed by teammate Kade Anderson but the transfer from UC San Diego is going to go off the board quickly, maybe even near the end of the first round. He has an easy, athletic delivery, and he works with a plus slider that hitters have missed more than half the time they’ve swung at it. He has a straight changeup that’s effective but that he doesn’t use that often. The fastball’s a little light but otherwise he’s a definite back-end starter with a fair amount of upside.
