  1. Sorry, hijacking the thread for non-prep discussion.

Missed this story last night that the Nats appear done with T-Mo (http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/03/nationals-place-tyler-moore-on-waivers.html). Not surprising but good news for one of Johnson, Heisey, Sizemore right?

  2. Jake Agnos of Battlefield, he of the 21 K effort in the playoff game last year that had to be forfeited, started 2016 with a 17 K game. I’m very curious about this guy, who is only listed at 5’10”, 165 (so is probably about 5’7″, 145). He must be a HS Greg Maddux.

As for T-Mo, I’m really surprised that he has stayed around this long. If he doesn’t get picked up on waivers, I wonder whether his agent will ask for his release, or if he will go to Syracuse and hang onto the dream with the Nats.

  3. KW you’re buring the lede on my next post, which is all about the players. Definitely talk about Jake Agnos’s season opener.

  4. Moore waiver: yeah you could kind of see this coming based on the spring that Sizemore is having and the numbers Moore put up last year. Had it not been for injuries, Moore would have been released LAST year.

  5. So we have our answer on Moore; passed through waivers, no claims and accepted an outright to Syracuse. Probably accepted it so that his contract vests and he still gets paid on this year. I would have done the same; if nobody claimed me i’d take the money and bide my time and take MLFA next year.

  6. Agree on Moore, $900,000 is a lot of money to walk away from.
Surprised none of the bottom dwelling teams picked him up.

  7. Do you think its because he had a $900k deal? I mean, in the grand scheme of things a ML min salary of $525 or whatever isn’t really that much different than 900k so maybe not. But i guess it is somewhat surprising.

Or perhaps not; look at the troubles that players like Mark Trumbo, Evan Gattis, Pedro Alvarez etc are having. Positionally limited, power hitters but not really that good of peripherals. Moore is a slugger who would have been far more valued 20 years ago than today.

  8. There’s still a chance for a trade. Since Moore was out of options, he may actually be more tradeable now that he’s off the 40-man. The return wouldn’t be much, though, so at some point you have to weigh what you might get in return (a second-tier A-ball guy) verses the chance T-Mo might be needed if the Nats get hit by another rash of injuries.

  9. T-Mo traded to the Braves for an even bigger, immobile 1B:

Perhaps the Nats needed someone to fill in for Fister on the offseason hoops roster?

  10. Good for Moore, at least he has a chance with a pitiful team.
It looks like we got a bag of baseballs back, good for the Nats for giving Moore a chance elsewhere.
