….And we’re back

If you’re seeing this, we’re live at the new host.  Upgraded version of WordPress, more stable server (it is no longer hosted on a machine that literally is sitting on someone’s desk).

I lost a comment on my forkball article; apologies to Frank M.  (I only saw it at the last minute before the cutover).

Let me know if you see any issues.

  1. Site looks good! A lot better than the Nats do, in fact. That loss yesterday was one of the most depressing yet. Who would have ever thought it would be possible for Strasburg to hold a 3-6 record while sporting a sparkling 2.50 ERA? This team is in DEEP trouble, especially if Harper returns later rather than sooner.

  2. I think the quote at the top is finally un-marred by the older version of WordPress I have been operating on. I also am really excited because I can finally install plugins error-free and do things like traffic analysis and link tracking.

I don’t think anyone imagined that the offense would be this bad. Just looking at team stats right now and they’re 28th in team Batting Average, 28th in OBP, 28th in runs scored, and 28th in team OPS+. You just can’t be a winning team when you’re hitting this badly. Its a miracle they’re at .500!

  3. Yeah, the offensive woes are truly baffling, and you can’t blame it on injuries since they had as many or more injuries to the lineup last year. The blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the veterans–Werth, Zimmerman, LaRoche, Span and Espinosa–with Desmond being the lone exception. Prior to the beginning of the year, had you said we’d have to be without Harper for a couple of months we all would have thought they’d be okay with all of those other guys in the lineup combined with their dominant pitching.

  4. Span’s not the lead-off guy we need; average, obp way down, his OPS+ adjusted is 20 points less now than it was last year. That’s hurting the team at the top. But, suddenly we have a very capable #2 hitter in Rendon, if they’re smart and keep him there; he look like a classic 2-hole guy; hits to all fields, handles the bat well, some power.

Harper’s loss is only magnified because he was covering for a lot of deficiencies elsewhere. Laroche’s .200 BA (since lifted a bit). The bench’s unbelievably bad production.

  5. Todd – the site looks good. I can read the banner clearly now, although there is still a little something up with the left edge before you get to the … Almost like it started, stopped, and then started again.

The font looks a little different: maybe smaller?

the Nats, well yeah … not so good. I find that I have subconsciously reigned in my expectations.

  6. Yeah I see what you’re saying about the beginning of the quote image. I think it was doing that before too. The migration of the site was straightforward but bulky; the wp-content folder encompassed > 50mb and the underlying database was > 5mb of pure sql. That’s a lot of comments and posts.
